Text Box: Keele Road Traffic Survey - now available

25/02/12

A report commissioned by Staffordshire County Council Highways to investigate speeding concerns along the A525 - from Pooldam to Keele Bank has been completed.
Acting on concerns raised by local residents, Councillor Simon Tagg asked the County Council to look into speeding issues along Keele Road and the Higherland and recommend actions to be taken to raise awareness of the existing speed limit in the interests of pedestrians and road users. Speed data was gathered at various locations in the area over a period of time and historical accident data was analysed. The existing signage and road markings were reviewed for their effectiveness. The report contains a number of recommendations which are listed below.
Councillor Simon Tagg said: “I am pleased that the survey is now complete and I am assured that the recommended actions will be implemented within the next few months. Road safety is an important issue and I will continue to monitor the situation. The report makes reference to a future ‘pedestrian refuge’ near to Mayfield Avenue. I will continue to campaign for this and also ensure that further highway improvements are carried out as funding allows.”

Wulstan Drive gets its parking restriction

23/02/12

Councillor Simon Tagg, said: "After calls for action by local residents the parking restriction have finally been put in place. These will make the busy junctions on Wulstan Drive and neighbouring streets safer and ease the flow of traffic. We will be on the look out for any spread of parking into other nearby streets, and we are still working to get the businesses in the Brampton, who's employees are causing the problems, to provide more onsite parking for their staff."
